My Real Treasures, in-house photo digitization service designed to handle unorganized collections of photos, albums, and scrapbooks, with pricing that decreases for higher volumes.

We digitize photos in standard sizes up to “8×10”, oversized items & frames all in house. You do not have to organize your photos before sending them to us. We digitize photos in envelopes, shoeboxes, bags – however you have them – and return them the same way. We also work with photos in Albums and Scrapbooks.

Standard 8mm & Super 8 Transfers

Whether it’s the grainy charm of a 1950s wedding or the vibrant colors of a 1970s road trip, we handle all formats:

Silent 8mm: The classic home movie format.

Output Formats: MP4 (for easy sharing), MOV (for editing), or specialized archival formats upon request.

 When customers bring in old movie reels, they usually do not know how much footage they have. Listing the common 8mm and Super 8 reel sizes on your website helps customers easily identify their film and estimate their transfer needs. Here are the standard 8mm film reel sizes, their physical diameters, and how much video playback time they contain: 3-Inch Reel (The Most Common)

• Film Length: 50 feet
• Physical Diameter: 3 inches (about the size of a coffee cup coaster)
• Video Runtime: Approx. 3 to 4 minutes
• Note: This is the standard size that came back from processing labs in the 1950s–1970s.

4-Inch Reel

• Film Length: 100 feet
• Physical Diameter: 4 inches
• Video Runtime: Approx. 7 to 8 minutes
• Note: Usually holds two small 50ft reels spliced together by the family.

5-Inch Reel

• Film Length: 200 feet
• Physical Diameter: 5 inches
• Video Runtime: Approx. 14 to 15 minutes
• Note: This is a medium-sized reel often used for longer home movie compilations.

7-Inch Reel (The Largest Standard)

• Film Length: 400 feet
• Physical Diameter: 7 inches (about the size of a small dinner plate)
• Video Runtime: Approx. 28 to 30 minutes
• Note: These large reels represent a significant amount of continuous family footage.

Website Content Tip: Super 8 vs. Regular 8mm Runtime Super 8 film has smaller sprocket holes and larger image frames than Regular 8mm. Because of this, Super 8 film runs slightly faster through a projector (usually 18 frames per second instead of 16).

• Regular 8mm: A 50ft reel runs about 4 minutes.
• Super 8mm: A 50ft reel runs closer to 3 minutes and 20 seconds.
