My Real Treasures, in-house photo digitization service designed to handle unorganized collections of photos, albums, and scrapbooks, with pricing that decreases for higher volumes.

We digitize photos in standard sizes up to “8×10”, oversized items & frames all in house. You do not have to organize your photos before sending them to us. We digitize photos in envelopes, shoeboxes, bags – however you have them – and return them the same way. We also work with photos in Albums and Scrapbooks.  

35mm slides were made for the big screen, but their delicate transparency film is prone to fading and color shifts over time. Unlike standard prints, these require specialized care to maintain their original vibrancies. With extensive firsthand experience in slide preservation, we go beyond a simple scan. Every slide is carefully cleaned and optimized both before and after the scanning process, ensuring your digital reproductions are crisp, clear, and true to the original moment.

• MiniDV: We capture the high-quality digital signal of your 90s and 2000s camcorder tapes before they become unplayable.
• Hi8 / Video8: Specialized playback for Sony and magnetic formats to ensure the best color and sound retention.

 Frame-by-Frame Scanning: We don't just "project and record." Every single frame of your 8mm film is captured individually as a high-resolution image, ensuring zero flicker and maximum detail.

• Gentle Restoration: Old film gets brittle. We hand-inspect every reel, repair broken splices, and perform a specialized cleaning to remove decades of dust.

 8mm film reels are typically categorized by their diameter, which directly determines the total length of film (in feet) they can hold. While the physical reel sizes are the same for both Regular 8mm and Super 8 film, the total playback time varies because Super 8 film generally plays at a slightly faster frame rate (18 fps) compared to Regular 8mm (16 fps)

 Reel diameters are measured across the widest part of the spool. While the physical reel may fit both standard 8mm and Super 8 film, the formats themselves are not interchangeable in projectors due to different sprocket hole sizes and frame dimensions. 

 Key Characteristics & Identification

• The "Double 8" Confusion: You may find yellow Kodak boxes labeled as "25ft." These actually contain 50 feet of viewable film. This is because "Double 8" film was originally 16mm wide; you shot 25 feet on one side, flipped the roll to shoot the other 25 feet, and the lab then split it into a single 50-foot 8mm strip.
• Reel Markings: Many larger reels (5" to 7") have embossed notches or markings on the spokes that indicate how many feet of film are remaining if the reel is not completely full.
• Spindle Holes: Regular 8mm reels have a smaller center hole (approx. 8mm), while Super 8 reels have a larger hole (approx. 13mm). Many modern replacement reels are "Dual 8," featuring a large hole with a removable adapter to fit both types of projectors.
• Capacity Limits: A 7-inch reel is the most common "large" size for home movies and can hold the spliced-together contents of up to eight smaller 50-foot reels.
